چکیده

Abstract Geopolymer (GP) has recently emerged as a novel and environmental friendly alternative to conventional soil stabilization products like lime Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), which adversely affect the environment. This article emphasizes GPs produced from high calcium class C fly ash (CFA) an alkali activator comprising sodium hydroxide silicate solution for sand stabilization. The experimental program includes series of unconfined compressive strength (UCS), flexural strength, tensile microstructural analyses using scanning electron microscopy. Results revealed that UCS, GP-treated were in range 2–10, 0.5–2.0, 0.4–1.2 MPa, respectively (depending on ratio activator). These strengths even higher than those cement-stabilized soil. analysis formation dense calcium–sodium alumina–silicate hydrated gel (C, N–A–S–H) is reason improvement. According findings this study, CFA-GP binder improvement viable OPC geotechnical applications.

Effects of Soil Pollution on Geotechnical Behaviour of Soils

Ground pollution arises from the impact of past and current industrial activity and due to improper disposal of waste generated by society. Geoenvironmental engineering deals with the most important aspects: (a) Soil pollution processes and effect on geotechnical properties, and (b) Waste Management. Soil-pollutants interaction changes soil behaviour and also can lead to various geotechnical pr...

Effect of Stone Dust On Some Geotechnical properties Of Soil

Stone dust is a kind of solid waste material that is generated from stone crushing industry which is abundantly available. It is estimated that each crusher unit produce 15%-20% stone dust. Disposal of such wastes poses lots of geoenvironmental problems such as landfill disposal problems, health and environmental hazards. The best way to eliminate these problems is to make use such waste. Keepi...

Geotechnical Characterization Cement - Fly Ash –fibers Mix

The fly ash is a waste produced mostly from the burning of coal in thermal power station which contributes to environmental pollution. It is naturally-cementitious coal combustion by-product. Many studies have been reported in the literature on the performance evaluation of soil – fly ash system as well soil-fly ashfiber system. Although ample studies have been reported with randomly distribute...

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Epoxy Geopolymer Hybrid Composites

The preparation and the characterization of novel geopolymer-based hybrid composites are reported. These materials have been prepared through an innovative synthetic approach, based on a co-reticulation in mild conditions of commercial epoxy based organic resins and a metakaolin-based geopolymer inorganic matrix. This synthetic strategy allows the obtainment of a homogeneous dispersion of the o...

Measuring evaporation from soil surfaces for environmental and geotechnical purposes

There are many reasons for the need to assess rates and quantities of evaporation or evapotranspiration from natural soil surfaces, the surfaces of deposits of mine or industrial waste, or soil-covered waste surfaces. These include assessing water balances for nearsurface soil strata, landfills, tailings dams and waste dumps and suitable deposition or application intervals for hydraulic fill ta...
